As you drive into the beautiful Yorkshire City of Ripon there’s a welcome sign that says ‘Stay awhile amid it’s ancient charms’ this makes me smile every time I drive in. Ripon is a center point of a City because all around it you have a wealth of great visitor attractions including the beautiful Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal, you then have Newby Hall & Gardens. For the kids you have the Lightwater Valley Theme Park with its 30 thrill seeking rides plus Ripon is surrounded by many small Yorkshire villages with all of their own distinctive charm.
Ripon is a stunning city to spend the day whether it roaming around its grand cathedral or sitting by the canal eating your picnic lunch. My favourite is to sit on a bench in the Spa Gardens and just people watch surrounded by the beautiful flowers. In the summer month’s the city has its famous race meetings that draw in thousands of visitors to the ancient race course.
