Best Bev ever Bev gets Bench fever in the lakes.

Derwentwater

Best Bev ever Bev (centre front) after completing her walk around Derwentwater.

Derwentwater is one of the largest stretches of water in the English lakes National Park, measuring approximately 3 miles long and 1 mile across. The principal town at the North of the lake is Keswick with its population of about 5,000 inhabitants.

Not only that but it’s the area our friend ‘Best Bev ever Bev’ her son Luke and their Mountain Yomping friends chose for the Easter Holiday, Yes! I know their mad and that there’s lovely warm places on this massive round thing that we live on but like thousands of other people, Bev and her mucker’s love the unpredictability of the weather and changes that brings to the colour of their surroundings. What I personally like about the lakes is that there is always a feeling of openness and that you don’t have to go far to find your own special place that you could just sit down and enjoy the beauty.

Although Keswick was an importing mining area at one time in its long history, it is better known as a holiday retreat with its many Hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, Caravans and Campsites.

If you’re looking for accommodation in any part of the Lake District you can check out  date availability by clicking on  the Bookings.com link to the right and at the bottom of this post.

Simple Bench but what a view

‘Ladies and Gentlemen this is England’  I only say this when I come across a bench with a stunning view and this simple bench gives you something very special. I would love to sit here with my flask of coffee and a picnic lunch. Look at the colours…Greens, Pinks and lots of different shades of Brown and this could all change by one of the clouds moving to one side and the Sun peeking through.

Meet Bev and Luke enjoying some precious  Mam/Son bonding time whilst enjoying the long walks and fresh air.

If you’re looking for more information about visiting the Lake District, you can find everything you need on www.visitcumbria.com. Visit Cumbria is the most comprehensive online regional guide to the Lake District and Cumbria and is also one of the longest established major tourist information websites in the Uk.

Another website you might want to check out is www.lakedistrict.gov.uk. Again this website will give you all the information about the Lake District and surrounding area. You can even check out webcams before you go.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bev, Luke and their friends who obviously had a brilliant week Yomping up and down the Mountains of one of England’s finest National Parks.
